Meeting Adriana – Part One
Adriana and I met online as friends on a website called “Zorpia”, this was long before either one of us was on Facebook. Zorpia was like MySpace at the time and I don’t remember people using it to hook up with each other, the website had a message board and personal pages which people could use like the personal pages on MySpace.
We eventually became more than just friends and we used Yahoo Messenger to talk with each other every day. After several months of talking with each other we decided to meet in person, in Romania. I flew to Bucharest (Otopeni) on October 23rd of 2008 and met Adriana at the airport. We rented a car and drove to Sinaia, Romania and got lost in Ploiești, Romania on the way. When we finally made it to Sinaia and checked into our pension that Adriana had found online. A “pension” in Romania is basically a large house that is used like a hotel. Pensions are much nicer to stay at than hostels and usually cost less than staying at a hotel.
On October 24th of 2008 (my 40th birthday) we walked around Sinaia and found ingredients for lasagna, my favorite dish. Later that day Adriana made lasagna from scratch in the microwave that was in our pension room. The lasagna turned out well for being made in a microwave and I was very impressed.
While in Sanaia we visited Peleș Castle. Here is the Wikipedia Peleș Castle Page if you want to learn more about the castle.
There is a beautiful monastery in Sinaia that we visited but for some reason I did not take any pictures of it on this trip, I did however take pictures on other trips any will post them in the future.
And somehow we ended up at the train station in Sinaia. I can’t remember the reason why but we were probably just walking around the city and found ourselves there.
There is a small city by Sinaia that we visited and it is called Bușteni. I will add a couple of pictures from Bușteni here and end this post. The are other locations that we visited on this trip and I will post about them separately.
